What can YOU donate to Christmas Cheer?

In 2011, we are expecting close over 5,000 people to apply for assistance and frankly, and we just can't do it without your supprt! With that in mind, there are traditionally areas where our need exceeds the donations.

In particular, we're finding donations for children in the 8-10 year old age difficult to find, and we can ALWAYS use more toys for infants and toddlers..

Toys R us has provided this link to this season's most popular toys

Need more inspiration? Try the 8-11 year old pages at Toys R Us or Amazon.
(Please note that Christmas Cheer has no association with these companies, but we offer these links because they display a wide selection of gift ideas for children in this age range.)

Anything you can do would be MOST appreciated.

Aside from gifts of new unwrapped toys, we also need a number of food items to fill about 2,000 Christmas Cheer food hampers, one for each family we serve.

While some food items are purchased with donated money, (turkeys, fresh fruit, etc.), other food items come directly from donations made at drop off locations across the region.

Wondering what kind of food items we need most?
Here's a list...but remeber, please no glass containers or perishable items.

  • canned fish/meat
  • canned juices
  • canned fruits
  • canned vegetables
  • canned stew
  • canned pasta sauce
  • rice
  • pasta/pasta dinners
  • peanut butter
  • cookies
  • candies
  • hot chocolate
  • cereal
  • mashed potato mix
  • pancake mix / syrup

Thank you for taking the time to read this list and for considering supporting families in our region who could use a little extra help over the holiday
